People do it because it's an easy kill and secures a numerical advantage. It's not a nice thing to do, but it's smart.

Note that some players in lights like to grab opportunity kills on DC'd players. It's an easy kill, and it also nullifies a potential threat in case the poor sod reconnects.

I still think its very cheap if the person was kind enough to return afterwards. at least let the person play the game

It's a smart move. And how do we know the guy planned on returning? I mean, do you stop shooting at people that shut down? They have as much ability to defend themselves as a DC'd player does. Shouldn't you wait for their mech to restart? (Seriously, if that was something people did I'd stop using override.)

its cheap. people who do it are terrible players who couldnt get kills against live mechs.

lol
call it cheap if you want but IMO its smart. Take that mech off the field before he gets a chance to do dmg, its no different then getting behind a mech or calling out a shutdown mech.
You dont get cbills for being fair and holding hands you get them doing dmg and killing stuff.

it may be smart, but its kind of dishonorable. im all for wolfpacking and exploiting the mistakes of others, but im not gonna go out of my way to farm a disco, that is outside of their direct control most of the time. also its bad team work, while you are out farming the rest of your team is fighting a man down.

Ahem! Sometimes doing the cheap thing is the smart thing to do.

You seem to be forgetting that both teams are a man down.
Besides, is this on the same level of "dishonorable" as legging?

I dont get how you math...
If they have one down, and you have one mech on that one then isnt that 1 mech from both teams out of the imaginary fight?
12-1=11 2x for a total of 22 mechs and once your fast mover take out the dead weight he is free to come back for a nice 12v11.
Again, no cbills gained by some made up code of internet gaming ethics. Maybe lets not think so much into it because it just a game and i certainly dont do it thinking im trolling. Its the smart thing to do, honor doesn't win anything in this game or on the internet in general. Why you think HONOR is even a thing is beyond me. Its a game dude, relax this isnt the real military just laugh it off and drop again.
Aside form some RP bulls%#t or some braggin rights among buds i dont see why its even important or being brought up.
S%$t happens sometimes and ISPs are usually to blame.

If you're talking the enemy team doing the killing, it's playing smart. Team killing your DC'd teammate is griefing.
